This table set up took an odd amount of concentration and blue painter’s tape (to prevent a tiny tree domino effect), but it turned out festive AF. High five to my mom for stalking multiple @hobbylobby locations to assist in the tiny tree hoarding.

In non-hurricance/global pandemic/general 2020 tomfoolery-related news: I discovered that the patterned cement tile in my guest bathroom is now available in a matte porcelain tile (MUCH easier to install) and it’s quite literally 1/15 of the price of cement tile. My back patio has become my “pod’s” go to spot for quarantine happy hours, Sunday brunch, and mid-day WFH lunch breaks. Because I’m bored and apparently like to punish myself, I hung some outdoor curtain panels on a room divider tension rod to...block my view of some dead grass (honest). This little upgrade was under $80, & I think it makes a huge difference! However, this was definitely a two man job and I don’t recommend following my lead and doing this solo. #blessed I didn’t break my neck. Link to most everything pictured 👇🏻

On the morning of 9/11, my grandmother said, “Well, we woke up in a different world than we went to sleep in…” I’ve struggled with what to say—if anything—here, as to not say the wrong thing. I’ve spent the weekend talking with my friends and family, but I still feel gutted and helpless. The images of police and protestors peacefully marching together, praying together, having effective and productive conversations to incite permanent change for the BETTER give me hope in this hopeless time. I wish that the media would spotlight more of those interactions, because I know they outweigh the images of extreme hate and violence that have littered our television screens over the past few days. I hope that more effective and productive conversations are being had in our homes, workplaces, and with strangers—I’ll certainly continue to have them and vow to be a proactive part of the change that we so desperately need to see, and that soon we will wake up in a BETTER world than we went to sleep in.

I’ve always struggled with this corner of my living room, but I think I’m getting there! I got two of these amazing @cb2 chairs as a Christmas gift to myself #treatyoself, and the table was was a garage sale score from @huxleyhousevintage years ago. It’s probably floated around to every single room, but I think it’s finally found a home in this little corner. I envisioned the chairs to be the perfect “conversation set,” but thanks to quarantine, they’re now my “play solitaire on my phone / watch the news 👎🏻/ endlessly scroll the internet” chairs.
