DIY: Chalkboard Paint Pumpkin

Chalkboard paint seems to be everywhere these days, so why not put it on your pumpkin!?!  The options are endless as to what you can write on them once they’re painted, but for this pumpkin, I chose to write out a very spooky menu for a Halloween-themed dinner party.  This would also be a great option for Thanksgiving dinner or any fall gathering–just swap out the Buffalo Bat Wings for some good ol’ turkey and stuffing!

MATERIALS

  • Pumpkin [again, I used a faux pumpkin so that I can get multiple uses out of it]
  • Black chalkboard paint
  • Paint brush or sponge brush
  • Chalk
  • Chalkboard marker

INSTRUCTIONS

Paint your pumpkin with two coats of chalkboard paint, let your pumpkin dry completely between coats.  Once your second coat has completely dried, lightly rub chalk over your pumpkin and wipe off to ‘prime’ the surface.  Then, using the chalkboard board marker, write your menu.  The chalkboard marker should easily wipe off, allowing you to use your pumpkin for any and all fall occasions!
