DIY: Studded Pumpkins

It’s finally October, which means it’s finally  time to decorate pumpkins!  [Ok, so I started decorating a month ago–don’t judge me.]  There are so many ways to spruce up your pumpkins that don’t require the mess of carving, so over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing my favorites.  I posted this pumpkin on Instagram on a few weeks ago and couldn’t wait to share the tutorial!

MATERIALS

  • Pumpkin [Secret: I prefer to use fake pumpkins so that I can keep them for years to come.]
  • Black acrylic craft paint
  • Paint brush
  • Iron-on pyramid studs [I found mine at Michael’s near the fabric crafts]
  • Hot glue gun + glue sticks

INSTRUCTIONS

Paint your pumpkin black and let it dry completely.  Once dry, hot glue [using low temp] the iron-on studs to each segment of the pumpkin.  For the larger pumpkin, I used a studded trim I found at Joann’s Fabric–that I’ve literally attempted to glue to everything that stands still: candlesticks, flower vases, etc… [If you’re looking for it, it’s by the trims and fringes near the fabric department.]

What’s your favorite way to decorate for Halloween?
