So as overdue as my previous post was, this one might take the cake. Two weeks (eeek!) until we move, and I’m just now showing you the guest room refresh! You got a sneak peek of it in my Apartment Therapy Home Tour last year, but here’s a little background on how this room came to be.
Prior to Phillip and I living together, the guest room served as a project / craft room, blog studio, Nono’s room, and a glorified storage unit. It was a hap-hazardous hoarder’s paradise, and it simply deserved more. While the picture of it’s previous state, below, looks all fine and well, please keep in mind that it was only that clean for a fleeting moment in time–long enough for me to take that photo. Conveniently cropped out is the massive amount of brass knick knacks, craft supplies, and miscellaneous and assorted home decor items that had yet to find a home. And the litter box–and no one wants to look at a litter box.
In addition to the aforementioned issues, this room didn’t really scream, “Hey, a boy lives here too!” either. Not that much of the house really did, for that matter, but here’s where I get with real you. Despite all of my best efforts to purge and make space for Phillip’s things, I still had way too much crap for us to share closet space. #RealTalk. I knew poor Phillip’s clothes would be relegated to the guest room, so I wanted to make sure that room was a reflection of both of our styles and was able to serve its proper purpose.

We found this garment rack that was the perfect [temporary] solution to our my storage problem. Phillip has an amazing collection of vintage rugs, so this one found a home under my beloved brass trunk. I’m so happy with how this room came together, and the fact that it now looks and feels like a proper guest room where real, live guests can actually come and stay. Well, not really anymore–we’re moving–but you get the point. Scroll down for a full source list and to shop the look!
